CFANS
Potato Industry Restructuring Project

Since 1994, the University of Minnesota has collaborated with ConAgra Diversified Products, an American agribusiness, to build a potato seed multiplication system, soil-water-plant testing laboratory, pest management clinic, and adaptive potato research capabilities in Krasnodar, Russia.  The three years of the project will result in developing a tissue culture laboratory and greenhouse facilities to insure providing high quality, disease-free seed potatoes.

The capacity to provide accurate, economically sound and environmentally safe fertilizer recommendations for the area in and around Krasnodar will also be developed.  As part of the program, strategies will be developed for integrated pest management and crop and soil management practices which will enhance or maintain the natural resource base in the region.
