After 20 years of institution building, the University of Minnesota began a new phase of collaboration with the institute Agronomique et Veterinaire Hassan II in Morocco. This new endeavor focuses on agribusiness outreach and training in Morocco. The program develops, in conjunction with the Institute's Horticulture Complex at Agadir, a set of producer-oriented services including a plant pest diagnostic clinic, an integrated pest management research unit, and a soil-plant-water testing laboratory.
In addition, the project will equip a pilot food processing plant on the Rabat campus which will serve both as a teaching facility and a service-oriented, applied research facility to the Moroccan food processing industry. Support is also provided to bolster the Institute's Master's-level and continuing education programs in agribusiness management.
